This is a hands-on role in a growing accountancy and payroll business which includes both limited company clients and umbrella company workers. The company plans to significantly grow over the next 12 months and the individual will have a varied and pivotal role in the growth of the business and will therefore suit a career focused and determined person who will be keen to make the role their own.

The successful candidate will work with the lead accountant and will be responsible for all aspects of running the payroll for the umbrella company workers, and will assist the accountant with production of financial statements.

Main Responsibilities

  • Maintaining client accounts on an online book-keeping package
  • Maintain regular contact with each client ensuring they receive hands-on customer service
  • Prepare regular (monthly) accounts for each client
  • Basic book keeping and accounting tasks including raising invoices, reconciling banks and preparing cashflow statements
  • Add referrals from agencies into the CRM and contact the new starters to introduce the umbrella company, explain the umbrella process and send the company starter pack
  • Monitor the new joiners and complete all new records on time for the weekly payroll run
  • Input all timesheets received from the agency in time for the main weekly payroll run on Thursday
  • Run the payroll from start to finish, including all relevant payroll checks and importing into the bank
  • Answer all incoming queries for the umbrella company
  • Ad-hoc payroll administration such as monitoring the HMRC inbox, inputting P45’s and uploading the pension file

You will:

  • be AAT qualified or ACCA/ACA part qualified and be familiar with an accounting practise environment
  • Have at least a grade “B” in GCSE Maths
  • Be confident making out going phone calls and explaining an umbrella company and generally have a friendly phone manner
