Principal Human Factors Consultant. SQEP, Remote with planned travel. to £85,000 pa plus package.
Our defence consultancy client is seeking a Senior or Principal Human Factors practitioner with experience in providing Human Factors support to Defence projects to join their growing Support Engineering team. SQEP status requires for sign offs.
As a member of the team, you will manage and lead Human Factors work packages, ensuring quality technical delivery. You will develop and maintain client relationships and help to mentor and support junior members of staff. Your day-to-day tasks will vary from working in multi-disciplinary teams on major programmes to carrying out specialised work on an individual basis, therefore you need to be able to demonstrate good communication skills and will be required to collaborate across disciplines and departments.
You will be required to support business development activities including writing bids, solution development and contributing to innovation and knowledge sharing across our Support Engineering team. The initial focus of your work is likely to be Defence related projects, but other market areas are growing in demand for Human Factors resource, as clients gain awareness of the benefits that Human Factors capability can deliver to their businesses.
This role can be Bristol office based, although the client has adopted a smart / dynamic working policy, so living within commuter distance of the offices is not required. Occasional travel to client’s sites will be required.
You will be able to demonstrate the following:
• Experience of providing Human Factors support to Safety Cases, such as development and substantiation of Human-Based Safety Claims.
• Experience of applying Human Reliability Assessment methods and techniques within the high hazard industry, such as task and error analysis, HEART and THERP.
• A degree or post graduate qualification in Human Factors or a related discipline, such as psychology, engineering, or industrial design.
• Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors Registered Member status or equivalent or working towards chartership.
• Experience of delivering Human Factors work packages within Defence or high hazard regulated industries.
• Experience of planning and applying Human Factors Integration and Human Factors processes, standards, and techniques to engineering projects.
• Knowledge of relevant UK and international standards/guidance and their application, including Def Stan 00-251 and Mil Standard 1472F.
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
• Evidence of a commitment to technical excellence and continued professional development.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and client facing skills.
• Current valid UK SC clearance or willingness to become security cleared
