Multi-Skilled Door Engineer
Salary: £36-42,000, dependent on experience and qualifications, plus competitive bonus and overtime (c.£60-70K OTE)
Location: Greater London and the South East
Type of work and hours: Permanent, full-time, field-based/remote working. Monday to Friday, with overtime and weekend availability as required. 24/7 call-out rota approximately 1 week in 12, paid at £250 per week plus call-out hours.

We're looking for an experienced Door Engineer looking for a permanent field-based role with strong earning potential, regular overtime and a well-established employer.
Our client is a long-established specialist installer and maintenance provider, working across auto and industrial doors, automatic gates, turnstiles, bollards, barriers, shutters, automatic doors and access control systems. Due to continued demand, they are looking to appoint an experienced engineer to cover some of these specialisms at customer sites across Greater London and the South East.
This role will suit an engineer with proven experience in the gate, door and barrier automation industry, who is confident installing, servicing and maintaining automated access systems to a high standard. You will need to be customer-facing, self-motivated, well organised and comfortable managing your workload while representing the business professionally on site.
Please note - experience across all specialisms isn't necessary - but we'd love to hear from any multi-skilled engineer who'd be willing to learn and is keen to develop their career.
Job Description
As a Multi-Skilled Door Engineer, your duties will include:
- Attending customer sites across Greater London and the South East
- Installing, servicing and maintaining automatic or industrial doors, roller shutters, gates and/or barriers
- Diagnosing faults and carrying out effective repairs on automated access systems
- Working independently to a high technical and safety standard
- Liaising confidently with customers, colleagues and internal teams
- Managing your time effectively across field-based appointments
- Participating in a 24/7 call-out rota, approximately 1 week in 12
- Completing work in line with relevant site requirements and company procedures
Person Specification
Suitable applicants will ideally have:
- Good knowledge of either the gate, door and barrier automation industry
- Experience installing, servicing or maintaining either automatic or industrial doors, roller shutters, gates or barriers
- Full UK driving licence
- CSCS or SSSTS certification
- DHF qualification, desirable
- ADSA qualification, desirable
- Ability to work using your own initiative and maintain high standards
- Strong communication, customer service and time management skills
